THE INFLUENCE OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS ON BUSINESS INNOVATION
Abstract: This study aimed to investigate the influence of information systems on business innovation within organizations. The objectives were to analyze how information systems support idea generation, improve innovation processes, and enhance organizational agility. A survey research design was chosen to gather quantitative data from a sample of 280 respondents, selected using the Taro Yamane formula to ensure representation across industries emphasizing innovation and technology adoption. The study focused on a case study of a technology startup in Uyo, known for its disruptive innovation and agile development practices supported by information systems. Conducted in Uyo, the reliability coefficient score was determined to be 0.89, indicating strong internal consistency in survey responses. The findings highlighted that information systems play a crucial role in fostering innovation by enabling collaborative platforms, facilitating knowledge sharing, and supporting rapid prototyping and experimentation. The study recommends that organizations foster a culture of innovation, invest in agile information systems architectures, and provide resources for continuous experimentation and adaptation to drive sustainable business innovation and competitive advantages in dynamic markets.
